Joanne Shannon - Vice President & Director
Joanne has over 40 years of experience working with people who are deaf. She has taught children at the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio as well as started a special education program for children who are deaf in Southern Ohio. She joined the Comprehensive Program for the Deaf in 1972 and has held multiple positions in this vocational rehabilitation program including work evaluator, independent living skills instructor, work adjustment counselor, and job placement specialist.
Joanne’s training and expertise includes career counseling, personal and social counseling, rehabilitation counseling, substance abuse counseling, supervising certification, and various trainings in the field of deafness and other disabilities. She is a member of the National Association of the Deaf, National Rehabilitation Association, and Hearing Loss Association of America.
